Portland Couples, We Know the Roads In

Portland is 19 miles north of us, and it’s one of those towns where everybody shows up. Big families, long guest lists, and a crowd that actually dances instead of standing around the bar. We like Portland for exactly that reason. Nineteen miles is nothing for us — it’s a normal drive, so there’s no travel premium and no excuse for a late load-in.

Portland shows up to dance. It's a town with a festival culture — the Strawberry Festival every spring, everybody in the same few square miles — and that carries into receptions. Crowds here don’t need to be coaxed onto the floor, so we spend our energy on sequencing: keeping the energy climbing instead of peaking at 8:15 and dying at 9:30.
